How much compensation am I entitled to for a delayed flight?
Under EU261 it depends on distance: up to €250 under 1,500 km, €400 for 1,500 to 3,500 km and €600 over 3,500 km, per passenger. You need to arrive at least 3 hours late. The amount has nothing to do with what you paid for the ticket.
Does this calculator work for US flights?
It covers EU261: flights leaving an EU airport, or arriving in the EU on an EU airline. US domestic delays don’t come with fixed cash under US DOT rules, but refund and rebooking rights still apply. Check your flight and we’ll tell you what applies to your route.
Can I use it for a cancelled flight?
Yes. If you were told less than 14 days before departure and weren’t offered a suitable alternative, the same amounts apply. That’s on top of your right to a full ticket refund.
Why is my long-haul amount halved?
On flights over 3,500 km, airlines can cut compensation by 50% if you arrive 3 to 4 hours late. Arrive more than 4 hours late and you get the full €600.
How far back can I claim?
